Our performance evaluation services have been designed to help you assess whether or not investment managers have “added value” throughout their efforts. Our performance evaluation service is different from those of our competitors in that we conduct a thorough qualitative evaluation of investment management firms, in addition to performing quantitative analysis of historical performance and portfolio characteristics. We place significant emphasis on interpreting the results, not simply reporting rates of return.

We use market indices and proprietary universes to benchmark performance, and then provide risk-adjusted results. We also analyze your portfolio’s risk and conduct a performance attribution exercise.

Quarterly Reports—PRIME™
Our quarterly PRIME (Performance Review and Investment Manager Evaluation) report offers you a customized, comprehensive analysis of your retirement plans using systems, models, and databases developed by Hewitt Investment Group. The report includes comparative investment results (versus “peer group” universes and relevant market benchmarks), asset mix and manager allocation information, portfolio diagnostics, and performance attribution.

The PRIME report blends quantitative analyses of historical performance with a thorough qualitative evaluation. The report is designed to answer the following questions:

• Are your investment managers “adding value” net of fees?
• Are your managers investing according to their stated investment philosophies and styles?
• Have your managers performed well considering the capital market environment during the period evaluated, and relative to managers utilizing similar approaches?
• Do your investment objectives and guidelines continue to be appropriate in light of changes that may have taken place in the capital markets?

A unique feature of our PRIME reports is the inclusion of our proprietary Investment Manager Updates. These updates will provide you with a “plain English” assessment of investment managers, prepared based on face-to-face meetings with these managers.
